A Stafford County sheriff's deputy spotted debris in the roadway from a damaged blue Toyota Camry around 4:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, Sheriff David Decatur said.

Then, the deputy saw a male in the driver’s seat of a damaged grey Mazda CX-3, Justin Hart, parked nearby. The deputy made contact with the driver of a nearby Mazda, who said he'd just struck an unoccupied Toyota and was leaving a note.

Hart showed the deputy his note that read, “Hello, I hit your car," according to Decatur.

Hart had glassy, bloodshot eyes and was offered field sobriety tests. He was arrested for DUI and held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. The owner of the damaged Toyota was provided information for insurance.
